Severance Cap Raised to TRY 73,729.87 — Entitlement to Increases During the Notice Period

8 Temmuz 2026

Following the update of the civil-service salary coefficient, Ministry of Treasury and Finance circular No. 5 of 3 July 2026 set the severance-pay cap applicable from 1 July to 31 December 2026 at TRY 73,729.87 (the figure for the first half of the year was TRY 64,948.77).

At the same time, decision 2025/9709 E., 2026/1098 K. of the 9th Civil Chamber of the Court of Cassation, dated 11 February 2026, clarified a contested point of practice: a worker dismissed without being given notice or paid in lieu may benefit from a severance-cap increase that enters into force during the statutory notice period.

Taken together, the two developments affect both employers’ termination and calculation processes and employees’ entitlements. Contact the firm for advice on termination, severance and notice calculations, or other labour-law disputes.
